The Sisterhood of The Traveling Owl

The Sisterhood of The Traveling Owl

I want to take a second to pay tribute to all the fun things inside spa ni'joli that I feel many people overlook. We take pride in our earthy, natural decor. Every spa ni'joli advertisement, email, or service menu includes our beloved swallow swooping across the page. For the holidays, we had a reindeer made out of logs (aptly named Woody) standing outside our front door. (He's still there. Say hi on your way in.) We've even had a bird's nest inside of the "a" of our name on the outside of our building for as long as I can remember. But my favorite hidden gem is The Traveling Owl. Here's his story...

The Traveling Owl started out as a serious purchase. Kristen found him during a routine trip to Home Goods one day and knew that our owner would love him. And love him, she did. He was placed high upon the peak of Pride Rock (more commonly known as "the sinks" in our salon. They were renamed after one of our stylists developed a habit of standing behind them and surveying the activity in the salon, a la Mufasa) for all to see. However, our hairstylists and clients felt uncomfortable with his wide-eyed gaze and soon he was moved. He was playfully placed inside Tina's station, then moved to the top of KC's, and so on until a new tradition was started. Every day we enter spa ni'joli with great caution, wondering where The Traveling Owl will place himself that day. Today he got facial. Tucked deep beneath the heated sheets of Room 4, he spent his day exfoliating, moisturizing, and relaxing. As for tomorrow? No one knows.

The Traveling Owl is something fun for our team members to look forward to each day (it doesn't take much), but some clients have caught on as well. Nothing makes me happier than seeing one of our guests shriek with delight as they find The Traveling Owl in the most unlikely of places. He may have scared some in the beginning, but he's really beginning to grow into his own here at spa ni'joli. I hope you'll take the time to notice The Traveling Owl and other fun things that we've placed throughout our spa for your (and our) own enjoyment. There are a ton of eclectic items in our decor and each one has a great story behind it. Don't be afraid to ask, and definitely do not be afraid to search out The Traveling Owl yourself. You never know where you'll find him next.

(Side note: if you still feel uncomfortable around The Traveling Owl after reading this, you must know that he's made from driftwood washed upon the Phillipino shores, carefully constructed and sold to consumers to feed the villagers. You really can't help but love him after hearing that. And I'm dead serious. Google it.)
